About the Internship
Put your left and right brain to work strategically and creatively for Segerstrom Center for the Arts top-notch Development team that fundraises $14 million annually and produces high-profile fundraising and stewardship events each year along with multiple ancillary events throughout the year.
The Special Events team is looking for a highly organized and efficient summer intern. The intern will have varied responsibilities that include events inventory, organizing collateral for events, attend event planning meetings, assist with event logistics, execute, and assist on the day of events, organize and purchase materials and supplies as needed, and support the development team on projects as needed.
Segerstrom Center’s Summer Internship Program is designed to provide opportunities to individuals from diverse backgrounds and/or those who are members of a group that is underrepresented in our industry. Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist on-site at fast-paced, high-profile events
- Take on a variety of administrative projects and day-to-day tasks
- Assist with managing the attendee lists for events and help create, print, and prepare place cards
- Maintain and update Events Calendar
- Prepare agendas and documents, collect materials, and complete event briefing packets
- Create and maintain an organization system of event team inventory and supplies
- Assist Event Coordinator with organizing event photos in Canto and Flickr
- Assist Event Coordinator in preparing expense reports
- Submitting invoices through Aestiva Power Office
- Preparing seating charts in Zkipster
- Assisting with registration at events
- Supplies ordering and pickups
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be enrolling in college, currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate
- Must be available to work all hours listed below in person
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Fluent writing and speaking English
- Previous experience in an administrative role preferred
- A passion for the performing arts is beneficial
- Proficient with Microsoft software, including Word for mail merges, Outlook for scheduling, and Excel
- Strong attention to detail, including proofreading
- Highly organized
- Dedicated to accuracy and precision even when tackling high volumes
- Calm under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, and write by hand
- Ability to speak clearly with sufficient hearing to communicate effectively
- Occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds for event support
- Physical stamina to be on feet for extended periods of time on event days
Schedule
Start: Monday, June 16, 2025
End: Friday, August 1, 2025
40 hours/week
M-F 10am – 6:30pm; flex as needed for event days
Compensation
$16.50 per hour
