With over 13,000 annual attendees and over $1.5 million in revenue, Shotgun is looking for a creative and driven leader of our marketing activities. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The marketing and communications director implements all strategies to maximize visibility, attendance, and box office income. This includes stewardship of Shotgun Players’ identity, our subscription and single ticket campaigns, public relations, advertising strategy, audience development, and the marketing of our fundraising initiatives. 

STRATEGY:

  • Lead the execution of Shotgun’s marketing plan for mainstage productions, readings, and special events
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract audiences reflecting the diversity of the Bay Area
  • Lead Shotgun’s team to create an ongoing conversation with our community about our plays and organization’s story
  • In conjunction with Artistic Director, establish the “why” and essential messaging for each production, aligning our storytelling with earned income goals
  • Collaborate with box office to implement policies that maximize earned income within our marketing budget and organizational capacity
  • Track and analyze marketing campaign performance and develop recommendations for continued improvement
  • Manage the digital elements of our campaigns including website content, social media, email, and advertising.
  • Run the annual calendar for marketing and communications campaigns/cycles.
  • Stay up on the latest marketing trends to evolve our best practices and create innovative approaches to audience development

IDENTITY:

  • Engage with our creative process to develop an authentic relationship with the art in order to tell a fantastic story about each play and how it amplifies our identity
  • Draft and edit our outgoing materials (press releases, email, social media), to ensure a consistent and compelling story around our plays and the organizational narrative
  • Cultivate and deepen relationships with other voices in our field: local media, other theaters, artists, social media influencers among others
  • Supervise and collaborate with our photographers, videographers, and graphic artists
  • Work with our development department to create marketing materials for our annual fundraising campaigns and donor cultivation events

DESIGN:

  • Direct design and branding for the organization to create materials that engage Shotgun’s audiences and spark the curiosity of new and current patrons.
  • Amplify our unique aesthetic with compelling text, graphics, photos, and videos
