The Fresno Arts Council is seeking individual artists and/or artist collectives to submit proposals for public art pieces that will be installed on State Route 41 on the northbound on-ramp and the southbound off-ramp at Tulare and Divisadero Street.
The proposed concepts and designs should be reflective but not limited to the vibrant connections and shared stories across our diverse community. Our community survey indicated a preference for artwork that is colorful and expresses the unique attributes of Fresno’s history, and cultural diversity. It is suggested that designs coordinate with the existing mosaic “Fresno” mural at SR41 North and Tulare/Divisadero on-ramp. This project calls for an installation that is some or all the following: creative, durable, low maintenance, withstand outdoor conditions, and reflective of Fresno.
The structure will be bolted down to a base support; the base support will be a low flat concrete pad. It is recommended to keep the artwork’s maximum width between 3 feet and 5 feet and the height between 8 feet and 12 feet. Artists must be able to work with construction contractors for installation. Text of any kind or advertising is prohibited.
A review panel will narrow submissions and choose the final art for this project.
Project information is available on the FAC website. (https://www.fresnoartscouncil.org/opencalls)
