The Department of Cultural Services in partnership with the Marin Cultural Association has five essential functions: operating the Marin Center facilities and campus as rental venues, programming a diverse performance series and the visual arts galleries, overseeing the Frank Lloyd Wright Civic Center docent tour program, and producing the award-winning Marin County Fair. The Department and the Marin Cultural Association support art and culture in Marin County, increasing participation, advancing collaboration, and optimizing resources to create greater access to the arts for all Marin County residents regardless of age, race, ability, or means. Cultural Services and the Marin County Fair have a combined annual operating budget of over $7 million and a full-time equivalent staff of 11 employees.
As an integral member of the Department of Cultural Services management team, the Administrative Services Officer (ASO) facilitates and supports the work of Cultural Services management by performing professional-level organizational, managerial, and operational analyses and studies. The ASO will be responsible for administrative, fiscal, technical, and clerical support functions, including:
· Budget development and management
· Maintaining tracking and effectively reconciling a variety of project budgets
· Munis (ERP) financial transactions and reporting, purchasing, contract administration
· Personnel and payroll administration.
· Drafting presentations and other materials for the Director and Deputy Director, as well as for Board, committee, and advisory meetings.
· Serving as the lead financial analyst and administrator for the annual Marin County Fair
This position requires staff to be onsite to support the core operations which involve running events.
The Highly Qualified Candidate: The ideal candidate is a self-starter and problem solver, with strong analytical skills and significant prior experience in an advanced finance position. They are highly organized with strong attention to detail, thrive under pressure and can think and react quickly and creatively under unique situations. The ideal candidate is an excellent team member, communicator, and collaborator; they independently seek opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement; and they thrive working in a fast-paced progressive environment. Prior experience in an arts, culture or event setting is ideal, but not required.
We recognize your time is valuable, so please note that you must have at least the following required Minimum Qualifications in order to be considered for this position: Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge and skills listed in the class specification. Typically, equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in business or public administration, accounting, economics or a field closely related to the work and two years of accounting, budgetary, fiscal reporting and related management support experience which included one year in a lead role. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis.
