OVERVIEW
Californians for the Arts (CFTA) is seeking to hire a Communications Coordinator to promote CFTA’s mission and programs utilizing a mixture of marketing, public relations, and advertising strategies. CFTA seeks applicants from all backgrounds to build a work culture that represents the diversity of the populations we serve in California.
Californians for the Arts (CFTA) and its sister organization, California Arts Advocates (CAA), work together to develop advocacy strategies and engage artists, culture bearers, cultural organizations and creative workers as arts advocates and community leaders working to increase public investment and policies to support a thriving and equitable creative workforce both locally and statewide. CFTA is also a national standard bearer for visibility and effectiveness in achieving policy goals.
The Communications Coordinator will work to advance the following goals:

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications Coordinator will report to CFTA’s Senior Manager of Communications and be responsible for a mix of the functions outlined below:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Accomplished coordinator with a minimum two plus years experience in marketing, public relations, advertising, and proven success in understanding an organization’s holistic connection to its mission.
Education must be matched with experience and there is no degree requirement for this position. Excellent recommendations from at least two recent and related clients/employers must be submitted.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
This position requires sitting, walking, standing, climbing stairs, hearing, speaking, being able to lift up to 25 lb. and running errands pertaining to organizational operations.
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
This is a remote work position, although we are seeking a Communications Coordinator located in California and travel throughout California will be required at times.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a full time, hourly, and non-exempt position offering $25-28 per hour for 40 hours weekly including accrued paid time off, sick time, subject to overtime, and offers health insurance benefit options. Professional development opportunities are encouraged and supported based on the budget available and must be approved by the supervisor.
