“Ocean-Earth-Air” is an art and poetry exhibition with an environmental theme
Surfing Madonna Oceans Project is pleased to present “Ocean/Earth/Air” a juried regional show about our beautiful, fragile and fascinating world. 100 artists from across California will be selected to showcase their work on the environmental theme during the month of April 2023 with the reception on Sunday, April 23 of Earth Day weekend. Artists and Poets will be awarded with cash prizes for their exceptional work.
The show will host all mediums of wall art including: painting, fabric, collage, assemblage and photography. The show will be juried by Cathy Carey, Cheryl Ehlers and Danny Salzhandler. There will be art and poetry award and poetry readings at the reception on Sunday April 23, 2023. The reception from 1 – 4PM, will feature the locally renown Mission Hills high school band “The Preservationists” fresh from their concert in Japan.
Artists may enter up to 3 entries for $30. ALL work must be original, No Giclees. No Size Limit. Submissions accepted until Sunday March 12. Notifications will be sent on Saturday March 18, 2023. Art work needs to be delivered to The Poway Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday March 28, 2023 from 10AM – 2PM. Artists and Poets will be recognized with cash awards. For artwork: Best in Show Ocean- $300, Best in Show Earth- $300, Best in Show Air – $300, First place $400, Second place $300, Third place $200, 6 Honorable Mentions $25 – $150. For Poetry: First place $400, Second place $300, Third place $200.

Surfing Madonna Oceans Project wants to spread our message of hope and appreciation for the ocean and support the arts. We believe that creating art and public appreciation of art increases cognitive abilities and eases anxiety and depression in these difficult times. Art can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Surfing Madonna Oceans Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Encinitas, California and was officially formed in 2013 by Robert Nichols and Mark Patterson (artist of the Surfing Madonna mosaic).
