As the major performing arts, events center, and fairgrounds in Marin County, Marin Center serves the community by bringing art, music, dance, and performance of all kinds to audiences around the Bay. Reporting to the Deputy Director, this critical staff position manages facility rentals and negotiates and administers contracts; advises users on available equipment, space and physical lay-out of facilities; serves as the lead liaison to all rental/event producers; recommends and implements approved operational policies and procedures, including scheduling, rental fees, and booking procedures for use of the facility; and recommends the purchase of equipment and supplies. The Event/Rental Manager takes an active role in performance management, coaching and staff/team development.

 

Our Highly Qualified Candidate: The ideal candidate is a problem solver, has strong analytical skills, and demonstrated leadership ability. They are an excellent communicator and possess a strong working knowledge of venue operations. They are highly organized, thrive under pressure, and can think and react quickly and creatively in unique situations while always remaining poised and professional. Strong computer skills, especially proficiency with the MS Office suite, and experience using a venue or facility rental software are highly desirable. Experience working in a union environment preferred. The ideal candidate is an excellent team member and collaborator who possesses superior interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; they independently seek opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement, and they thrive in a fast-paced, progressive organization.

 

We recognize your time is valuable, so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required Minimum Qualifications: Four years of journey-level experience in event coordination or theatrical production with at least one year of experience scheduling facility rentals; overseeing rental contracts, payments and insurance; and supervising event and regular hire staff.

 

Education equivalent to completion of one year of college (30 semester or 45 quarter units) with an emphasis in Theater Management, Business Administration, Parks and Recreation or a related field, may substitute for up to one year of experience.

 

Please note, duties belonging to a supervisor include having direct reports and responsibility for performance evaluations, approving leaves, hiring/firing, and discipline.
