FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Hours: Sat: 10:00AM-7:00PM and Sun: 10:00AM-7:00PM / Additional weekday/weeknight shifts as required, up to (30) hours per week
Summary:
Within a fast-paced Academic environment, the Analog Fabrication Specialist will work closely with and report to the Fabrication Shop Manager and Analog Fabrication Coordinator assisting students and faculty attain success in realizing the physical manifestation of their designs and ideas.
The Fabrication Specialist candidates will have extensive experience using and maintaining conventional Wood and Metal-working equipment. Candidates will be responsible for advising and training Shop users in the safest and most efficient use of fabrication equipment. Candidates will have practical experience with welding practices; plaster/resin casting; mold-making; thermal-forming; basic concrete work, and the ability to instruct students, faculty, and staff in the successful application of these processes in their coursework and research. The Fabrication Specialist will be capable of assisting with medium-scale construction methodology; gallery installation techniques; furniture design/building. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable and productive working as part of a team, leading a team, or completing projects independently.
