Studio Manager for Electronics Artist

Description

The Studio of Jim Campbell is seeking an organized, self-directed individual to manage the day-to-day activities of a busy electronic arts studio. This includes working directly with Jim and other studio staff, managing schedules, and working with outside individuals to complete tasks in a timely manner.  Prior management & artwork handling experience is desired, as is the ability to work with and oversee a small team.  An interest in the arts is also strongly encouraged.

Hours:  24 – 32 hours per week (3 – 4 days), starting ASAP

Location:  Dogpatch, San Francisco

Compensation to reflect experience

 

Job Responsibilities include:

*Scheduling:  exhibitions, production & shipping timelines, studio visits, travel for Jim & artwork installers, etc.

*Delegating tasks & overseeing production to keep large & small-scale projects on schedule/budget – ordering parts, vendor communication, accounts payable/receivable.

*Registrar/Preparator:  preparing, packing, and shipping delicate artworks nationally & internationally to clients and exhibitions.  Completing condition reports of out- and in-bound artworks.  Archiving artwork info in database, as well as physical archive of artwork parts.

*Shipping/Receiving:  in addition to artworks, there is a constant flow of parts & orders coming in and going out of the studio via FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.

*Inventory:  keeping accurate records (for internal & external purposes) & levels of items on hand – artworks, parts of artworks, crates, tools, etc.

*Records Management:  lists of available & sold artworks, collector information, artwork database, artwork parts spreadsheets, exhibits, creating new archival/organizational systems as necessary.

 

Ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

*Ability to work under pressure & multitask

*Manage short-term and long-term scheduling & tasks and to be flexible when priorities suddenly change

*Highly organized & detail-oriented

*Professional, courteous, and clear communication skills (verbal & written)

*Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

*Prior registrar/preparator/artwork handling or similar experience a plus

*Prior management experience desired
