COLLECTIONS MANAGER
JONATHAN ART FOUNDATION, LOS ANGELES
Part time, up to 20 hours/week. Base pay $30/hr.

Are you interested in joining a non-profit foundation that houses one of the finest collections of California Impressionist painting in one of the oldest private clubs in Los Angeles?
The Jonathan Art Foundation is a 501(c) organization based at the Jonathan Club in Downtown Los Angeles. Its primary purpose is to acquire and exhibit outstanding artworks which focus primarily on Southern California artists and history, and to maintain such works as a resource for use by scholars.
The Collections Manager will work alongside the JAF Board of Directors and Curator in all facets of the Foundation’s mission, including care of the art collection, administration, fundraising, and outreach.
 
PREREQUISITES:
Minimum bachelor’s degree (higher degree preferred) in art history, non-profit management, curatorial studies, or other related field.
Art history background—art history degree not required but must have art history included in education (example: advanced studio art degree at university)
 
Basic office management skills. Organized (filing, archiving, back-up computer files)
Ability to self-delegate, handle several un-related tasks and meet project deadlines.
Ability to work in committees—team player.

Some past experience working in the non-profit sector—some knowledge of not-for-profit mission statements, development, etc. Experience with Donorview or other nonprofit donor management software.
Proficient writing skills. Will be asked to write text and act as proofreader.
 
Previous experience working with museums, commercial galleries and/or other art-related institutions. Some registrar experience and experience with CatalogIt or other collection management software.
A basic understanding of care and storage of artwork. Previous experience working with preparators, shippers and art handlers.
 
Basic knowledge of Photoshop and photo resizing/editing.
Some basic website editing experience. Does not need to be professional level.
