HMD/The Bridge Project seeks an energetic Community Engagement Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate is someone who is dedicated to building coalitions among artists across disciplines, backgrounds, and perspectives, passionate about furthering cultural and racial equity in the arts, and who resides within the San Francisco Bay Area. HMD/The Bridge Project is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the occupied, ancestral lands of the Ramaytush Ohlone, known today also as the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe, who are the original peoples of the San Francisco Peninsula. Read our full acknowledgment of place at https://www.bridgeproject.art/about.
The Community Engagement Manager will work closely with HMD’s Co-Director Team to further grassroots objectives, expand accessibility to HMD programming, coordinate and manage local community events, and co-lead initiatives such as the Community Engagement Residency, which provides an opportunity for select artists, especially those historically marginalized, to engage in a year-long project with their communities. Core values of the residency include equity, dialogue, process, artist autonomy, the intersection of art-making and activism, and building relationships among artists.
We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to distributed leadership and who is interested in eventually moving into a position of greater leadership within the organization.
The Community Engagement Manager is a part-time, 20-25 hours/month employee position with growth and leadership opportunities. The schedule is flexible. Pay is $36/hour and the position is remote with some scheduled meetings occurring in person. We especially encourage people of color, queer, trans, and gender non-conforming people to apply as well as those seeking to grow into executive leadership.
