BODYTRAFFIC shares its love and reverence for dance around the globe through versatile performances, extensive outreach offerings and inspiring educational programs.
Job Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Artistic Director, the Education and Outreach Manager oversees dance curriculum and outreach programs for a world renowned professional dance company based in Los Angeles, California. This position is also a key part of the artistic planning team with a focus on strengthening and communicating the BODYTRAFFIC aesthetic within the professional dance community. The Education and Outreach Manager also promotes awareness of the life changing power of dance within the general community.
Specific duties include:
For Education:
- Planning and management of curriculum programs to teach BODYTRAFFIC methodologies to teens and adults through an annual series of intensive sessions and workshops.
- Supervision of dance faculty, including coordinating company member participation in teaching sessions.
- Managing admissions process and selecting student participants with a particular emphasis on diversity and inclusion.
- In collaboration with the General Manager, manage the budget, set tuition rates and instructor fees, distribute appropriate scholarships, and coordinate all business aspects of the education program.
For Outreach:
- In collaboration with the artistic director and the dance company, create educational short form dance presentations that can be shared with populations in need throughout our community.
- Establish and maintain meaningful partnerships with schools and community agencies where outreach performances can take place.
- Manage and track participation with a goal of ensuring that programs are reaching vulnerable populations not commonly targeted by live performing arts companies.
- Coordinate choreographer and dancer participation in outreach programs.
- Manage schedule, budget, and logistics for outreach performances.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years experience and/or proven track record in arts program creation and management for nonprofit or arts organizations
- Experience in prospecting and managing senior-level relationships within the public and private school administration
- Project Management – formulates short- and long-term project goals, objectives, schedules, and priorities in line with organizational goals; anticipates issues, obstacles, or opportunities that may impact plans or actions
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations with a high level of integrity, diplomacy, and initiative
- Proficient in the use of personal computers, Zoom, Google Apps and Microsoft applications and electronic record-keeping systems
- Detail-oriented with strong administrative and organizational skills
- Strong outreach and relationship building skills
- Must thrive in a team setting
