Position Summary:
Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, The Colburn School is an internationally recognized leader in performing arts education and is part of the fabric of the Los Angeles cultural community. With a world-renowned faculty, Colburn trains local and international students in four divisions: the Colburn Conservatory of Music, the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts, the Colburn Music Academy and the Colburn Dance Academy. Launched in the fall of 2017, Colburn’s Center for Innovation and Community Impact empowers the musical and dance leaders of tomorrow by equipping them with the tools needed to build creative careers that are sustainable and relevant in our rapidly shifting cultural landscape.

The Coordinator, Community Engagement and Career Development, position supports a wide spectrum of activities in the Center and is responsible for the coordination of numerous Community Engagement and Career Development programs at the institution. The Coordinator will serve as the main line of communication between Colburn and its community-based partners, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and support day-to-day office activity including coordination with school site partners, scheduling of community engagement programs, scheduling career development meetings, and facilitate the connection between our community-based programs and full integration into the Community School of the Performing Arts for students engaged in the program.
Coordinate with Community School staff to ensure a smooth transition for students into the Jumpstart Young Musicians program.
Organize and schedule all Musical Encounter Activities, including on-site visits for Musical Encounter Interactive.
Serve as the primary point of contact and provide regular communication with families involved in Community Engagement programming.
Work with the Advancement team to provide timely data for grant reports.
Schedule and coordinate all community-based work for Colburn’s EDI and residency programs, including Amplify, Fortissima, and partnerships with organizations such as Sphinx, From the Top, and ICYOLA
Implement systems for Community Engagement and Career Development, including Student Worker Timesheets, Equipment Orders, Digital Equipment Checkout, and matriculation from Community Engagement programs into the Community School in coordination with CSPA staff.
Schedule Colburn Conservatory students for community performances.
Implement the institution’s gig list.
Coordinate with supporting departments to ensure timely and accurate logistics for all activities as related to the community engagement programs, including rehearsals, performances, and meetings.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Spoken Spanish is required.
A bachelor’s degree in Music, Arts Management or Humanities is required. Combined experience/education may be substituted for minimum education.
Some prior administrative experience supporting a fast-paced environment and/or event logistics desirable. Desire to manage office functions and bring creative thinking to an entrepreneurial environment within an academic setting is essential.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and to work a very flexible schedule including some weekends.
