Founded in 1979, The Fresno Arts Council was established to be a support to and advocate for the Arts in Fresno County.  Today, we serve as the State Local Partner to the California Arts Council by designation of the Fresno County Board of Supervisors and we are the City of Fresno’s arts agency by Memorandum of Understanding.  The Council has a history of developing new and innovative programs that provide opportunities for working artist and arts organizations.  We are best known in the community for ArtHop, but we also manage public art projects, teaching artists in the schools and correctional institutions. Our unique range of services and specialized skill sets allow us to customize services to the arts community. 

About The Position

The Program Coordinator oversees development and implementation of programs and works closely with the Operations Manager and Program Manager to ensure compliance with all grants and contracts. Oversees communications and planning to ensure quality programs, events, and service. In addition, this position serves as the Media specialist responsible for preparing a quarterly newsletter and updating the FAC website and social media. 

The individual carries out routine tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision; however, support and direction are available as needed for unusual projects and activities.

 

Distinguishing Characteristics:

·       This position requires an articulate, professional, and well-mannered individual able to multi-task throughout the day and maintain a calm, organized and clean working environment. This position requires some supervision skills. Ability to develop high quality, accurate documents, and reports. This position requires someone who can troubleshoot, analyze, and problem-solve, apply what he/she has learned to future projects.

Responsibilities

·       Oversee all aspects of program development and execution.

·       Compose and distribute correspondence, maintain files including organization records.

·       Produce a quarterly newsletter

·       Attend community meetings.

·       Manage teaching artists

·       Maintain Community partner databases.

·       Oversee electronic communications and Website updates.

·       Ensure program records are properly maintained and readily accessible upon request.

·       Recommends marketing and promotional strategies, and coordinates creation and production of marketing/promotional materials

·       Handle routine day-to-day activities and work on special projects as requested

·       Work week Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

 

Qualifications

 

·       Must be well organized

·       Possesses good computer skills including word processing, database data entry

·       Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot and learn new computer programs

·       Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of telecommunications and software programs including Microsoft Office.

·       Excellent oral and written communication skills

·       Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, nonprofit management, education or communication field. Experience may be substituted for education in the primary areas required for the position.

·       A basic understanding of accounting, budgeting and analyzing financial statements.

·       Previous experience in event planning and marketing

·       Strong project managing skills

·       Deadline and detail-oriented

·       Ability to work well in teams

·       Valid driver’s license to operate a non-commercial vehicle

·       Reliable transportation

Salary/Benefits

Work Environment / Physical demands

Duties are performed In-Person, office setting.
Execution of responsibilities may require work beyond the standard workday and workweek.
Occasionally must be able to move office supplies and equipment weighing up to 15 pounds across the office.
