Marketing Coordinator

Hours: Minimum of 30 hour per week, Non-Exempt
Rate: $20–$24/hour, DOE

General Purpose of Position:
Working under the Director of Development & Communications and in collaboration with other staff, this position is responsible for coordinating marketing functions for the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (MAH). A member of the development and communications team, the position will assist in creating content, developing brand awareness, and cultivating engagement.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
This position role is responsible for the implementation and tracking of website updates, digital marketing and email campaigns, collaborating on social media strategy and execution, and building awareness for the MAH’s exhibitions, programming, and partnerships through robust content production and distribution across multiple platforms.
Essential Job Functions:

Website
• Oversee website, including content strategy and production, analytics, and evaluation.
• Work with other museum departments to update content in a timely manner, and in conjunction with institutional messaging.
• Under the guidance of the Director of Development & Communications, serve as point-person for designated digital and marketing projects, including liaising with internal stakeholders, and external vendors and partners to develop timelines and ensure delivery.
Social Media
• Lead all social media campaigns via Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and other relevant platforms with compelling content and diligent community management.
• Maintain and safeguard brand voice and message strategy across networks.
• Promote the museum’s initiatives through both organic and paid social media.
• Participate in the development of ongoing strategy for the museum’s social channels.
• Monitor, report, and respond to customer service issues.
• Set and track measurable goals in alignment with the museum’s strategic plan.
• Help determine the impact of all the museum’s social media outreach; analyze and review effectiveness of organic efforts and paid campaigns to help evolve ongoing social media strategy.
• Manage, balance, and report on social media budget each month.
• Generate relationships with social media influencers to attract new audiences.

E-marketing
• Coordinate the museum’s email marketing program, ensuring consistent quality, formatting, tone, and voice, and maintaining lists and segments.
• Develop and manage institutional email calendar and timelines for all email communications, ensuring campaigns are created and deployed on schedule.
• Collaborate on the design of communications by other departments, offering guidance and ensuring consistent formatting, quality, and tone and voice.
• Monitor statistics and share campaign reports; make data-driven recommendations for improving email strategies and ensuring successful campaigns.
• Create new email templates as necessary.
Public Relations
• Assist with public relations activities, including responding to press inquiries and developing and editing press releases.
• Act as the point person for all incoming media requests, including responding to and managing emails, calls, and requests from media for assets, interviews, etc.
• Coordinate onsite press visits, interviews, and photoshoots for media.
• Develop and update media lists with regional and national contacts.

Additional responsibilities
• Assists in preparation of campaign briefs, marketing research, reports, and presentations
• Be able to work within a fast-moving environment and to deliver within restricted time, space, and financial resources.
• Be able to utilize various electronic communication means to accomplish the duties and responsibilities of the position.
• Be able to work with a diverse range of people.
• Support the mission of the MAH in accordance with the strategic plan, Board direction, and adherence to the policies in the employee handbook.
• Attend board and committee meetings as necessary.
• Be physically present at the MAH a minimum of 50% of the work week.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 3+ years of professional experience.
• Proven ability to adapt writing style to maintain and define the voice of the organization.
• Experience collaborating with designers and producing high-quality graphics, images, and marketing collateral.
• Proven experience with many types of marketing and communication strategies and tools.
• Proficient with Salesforce, Google Analytics, Mailchimp, and other marketing automation tools.
• Proficiency in image editing and graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
