Residency and Exhibitions Associate

POSITION SUMMARY

The Residency and Exhibitions Associate supports the MAK Center’s exhibitions and international residency program, ensuring smooth operations, artist support, and timely coordination across MAK Center sites. The role manages exhibition logistics, installation, and documentation, and serves as the primary liaison for the residency program at the Mackey Apartments. This is a highly collaborative role focused on production, artist care, and operational coordination in support of the Center’s programmatic goals.

This full-time, non-exempt role will begin as a temporary position for up to five months, with the potential for longer-term employment based on mutual fit and organizational needs.

Project Manager, Core Renewal

The Skirball Cultural Center seeks a Project Manager who will support day-to-day coordination of administrative, audio-visual, architectural, and engineering details for the Skirball Museum’s reimagined core exhibition. Slated to open in Spring 2029, this is a time-limited position that will run through Fall 2030. Requiring a high level of administrative experience and coordination, this position reports to the Project Director, Core Renewal. Working closely with the Senior Vice President of Operations and external exhibition designers, architects, engineers, and other specialty consultants, the Project Manager coordinates the integration of the renewed core exhibition with the Skirball Cultural Center’s existing operations.

Starting salary: $85,000 DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative support to the Project Director, Core Renewal
  • Serves as a communication and decision-making channel for the Project Director, Core Renewal. Keep them apprised of challenges, opportunities, schedule and budget slippage, and contribute to problem-solving.
  • Documents and tracks all decision making and processes on integration elements for reference during and after the project.
  • Contributes to the development of project timelines, deliverables, and budgets; monitors progress; and identifies risks and areas that require greater detail.
  • Coordinates and schedules project milestones and related activities; assures timely communication and deliverables.
  • Serves as project team coordinator, facilitating team-wide communication, meetings, and procedures. Supports alignment across team member activities, project management tools, and communications.
  • Supports other exhibition development, research, administrative, and project management responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • 5+ years relevant experience contributing to and supporting capital projects with significant architectural, engineering, audio visual/interactive, and systems complexity/integration. (Senior Project Manager: 10 + years.)
  • Strong ability to work independently; setting priorities, managing workflow to fulfill objectives, and proactively engaging and communicating with supervisor, colleagues, partners, and stakeholders. (Project Manager: demonstrated judgement to operate independently 25% of time; Senior Project Manager: demonstrated judgement to operate independently 50%+ of time)
  • Extensive knowledge of museum standards and practices, including working knowledge of legal and ethical aspects of presenting religious content, personal and community stories, and material culture
  • Exceptional track record of maintaining, communicating, and successfully managing complex schedules, critical deadlines, a wide range of producers and collaborators, and significant risks to schedule and budget
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, professional collaborators, and vendors in an environment that prioritizes belonging and inclusive community; ability to interact diplomatically with the public
  • Strong commitment and ability to increase belonging, diversity, equity, and accessibility
  • Exceptional written communication skills with demonstrated ability to conceive and produce high-level correspondence, project documentation, synthesize and communicate feedback from a wide range of stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel (15-30%) and work weekends and evenings as appropriate
  • Preferred: 5+ years relevant experience contributing to and supporting museum exhibitions, with an emphasis on film, video, interactives, multi-media, and other audio visual installations.

Part-Time Office Manager

TOLO Architecture, led by Peter Tolkin and Sarah Lorenzen, is a boutique architecture
practice located in the Arts District of Downtown LA. We work on a variety of project types:
houses, institutional and arts-relates projects, and residential and commercial interiors.
We are looking for an Office Manager to join our team. Candidates should be highly
organized, with strong administrative and communication skills. The office manager will
support the operation of the office with tasks that include reviewing timecards, doing billing
and maintaining schedules, filing paperwork, and supporting our business development
efforts. Prior experience at an architecture or other creative field office preferred, but selfstarting
candidates with office management experience may be suited for this role.

Required Experience and Skills:
• 2-5 years office management experience or greater.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic accounting, word, and excel software.
• Self-starter and able to manage own workload.
• Ability to coordinate and communicate in a team environment.
• Attention to detail, organized, and able to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:
• Provide general office administrative support.
• Provide support with timesheet review, billing, and accounting. TOLO uses BQE
  Core and QuickBooks, knowledge of these or similar software preferred.
• Support TOLO’s business development efforts, such as assembling proposals
  to prospective clients and RFQs/RFPs.
• Filing and managing contact databases.

In Person Work Environment / Part-time position (2 days per week)
This position is part-time, for the equivalent of two days per week, schedule to be
determined based on candidate’s availability. Office operates as an in person work
environment, candidates must be located in greater Los Angeles.

These international exhibits are curated by Anthony Tusler and A. Laura Brody, and we look forward to celebrating our official tenth anniversary with you. We accept 2-D and sculptural work, music files, and performances on digital media. Early deadline to submit work is July 31, final deadline August 31, and artists will be notified mid September. The show will run December 4-28 at the Los Angeles Makery and online at opulentmobility.com.

A flat $20 fee covers administrative costs, and artists may share up to 10 works each. Please contact the founder A. Laura Brody if the fee causes hardship.

Associate Director, Institutional Giving

Position Overview:

The Associate Director of Institutional Giving (“AD”) is responsible for leading the organization’s institutional giving, including: corporations, foundations, and government, and including both philanthropic giving and corporate sponsorship.

Reporting to the Advancement Director, the AD’s essential functions and responsibilities include:

  • Executing and meeting the annual institutional giving fundraising goal, including renewal funds and a percentage of new revenues; *
  • Writing grant LOIs, reports, proposals, and other updates. Including periodically updating the language to ensure accuracy and freshness;
  • Managing the grants calendar to ensure deadlines are met for submissions and reporting;
  • Developing and maintaining ongoing relationships with funders that are intentional; *
  • Owning and managing the institutional giving funder portfolio including communication, arranging site visits, and utilizing P.S. ARTS’ moves management approach; *
  • Collaborating with the Programs and Finance teams to gather content and data, and continuously build foundational knowledge about P.S. ARTS’ programming; * and
  • Actively participate and play a leadership role on the team and with the Board of Trustees.

  • Demonstrated ability to raise funds from institutional donors in the five- and six-figure range.
  • Experience in philanthropy as well as sponsorship fundraising.
  • Experience prospecting successfully, and closing prospected gifts.
  • Knowledge of the fundraising landscape in California.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and compellingly and distill complex or internal information for funders and the public
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage all funders in the portfolio.
  • Self-motivation, including the ability to take ownership on projects and drive them forward independently while working in a collaborative setting.
  • Demonstrated capacity to incorporate feedback and follow direction with minimal day-to-day oversight.

  • Lift, push, or carry supplies, equipment, instruments or furniture up-to 40lbs.
  • Bend, twist, reach, stand and/or sit for long periods of time.
  • View LCD screens for long periods of time.

The Other Art Fair is a global gathering of creative thinkers, game changers and pleasure seekers sharing emerging talent and unforgettable experiences. 

Set against the backdrop of the world’s biggest cities, each of our fairs is different. We combine boundary-pushing yet always accessible artworks from over 100 independent artists like you, with immersive installations, performances and a few curious encounters. The result is an inspiring, evocative, inclusive and fun event that reframes how art can be perceived and creates lasting connections between artists and art lovers.

We’ve been dedicated to representing independent artists since 2011 The Other Art Fair and since then have worked with over 3,000 artists from more than 20 countries. We host 12 in-person fairs each year across the UK, US and Australia.

The Fair package includes a booth at a 4-day in-person event, pre-fair operations and marketing workshops, booth curation feedback, and more. Booths start at 16 linear feet for $2,250.
