We strengthen confidence and resilience in women and girls. We provide a roadmap of self-discovery through our multi-generational approach of educational and mentorship programs.
The WJF creates scripts for on stage and film performance to educate, empower and provide opportunities for girls to participate at every level of the creative process.
One approach in the educational and performance process is our proprietary play called “Making HERStory.” We highlight stories of historic women who paved the way. Making HERstory acknowledges the accomplishments of women leaders, authors, artists, humanitarians, business women and mothers/grandmothers who have risen above the challenges to reach their personal goals and dreams. Our goal is to expand online programs to promote healthy self-esteem through artistic expression i.e. plays, painting/drawing/music/dance and writing. When women and girls are able to express themselves, hope is created because they have direction. Self esteem is improved because they see their value.
Our program reduces the ever increasing suicide rate among girls ages 10-14 years of age.
CDC data finds a sharp rise in suicide attempts among teen girls. The study from Nationwide Children’s Hospital noted from 1999-2014 the suicide rate increased three-fold among girls between the ages of 10-14. (Forbes)
52% of all transgender and nonbinary young people in the U.S. seriously contemplated killing themselves in 2020. Suicidal attempts among teen girls have increased over 50% compared to 2019. (TODAY)
Suicide has become the second leading cause of death for Latina adolescents.
Our interactive workshops are designed to promote healthy well being and stop the cycle of suicide. We encourage positive dialogue to address common fears, uncertainty, self doubt, racial and social issues.
We promote community collaborative efforts with non-profit organizations i.e. Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA, Sunburst Academy, Big Brother Big Sister, Girls Scouts of America and Court Appointed Special Advocates.
