With support from the California Arts Council, Voices of Music will expand its 30-week after school recorder program to include two schools in the West Contra Costa Unified School District. it will be taught by Voices of Music’s accomplished music educators and will emphasize learning of important music and life skills through hands-on music-making. A culminating performance in June 2021 at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive will showcase outcomes of the program.
Currently the most popular early music ensemble in America, San Francisco based Voices of Music performs both renaissance and baroque music, drawing upon the many and varied sources for historical performance practice. Performances are primarily one on a part, with an emphasis on combining both instrumental and vocal styles of interpretation and ornamentation. – after school recorder classes for seven public elementary and middle schools (weekly program)
– Junior Recorder Society (monthly meetings)
– Barbary Coast Recorder Orchestra
– Emerging Artist Program
