Project Description

VETART’s most basic mission is to teach, make, and share Art. VETART’s down-to-earth, open-minded, actions-speak-louder-than-words culture is accessible and simple. VETART approaches Art, teaching Art, believing that a society gains a vastly deepened network of visual/psychological power and cohesion by cultivating a visual Artistic language that can be shared by all people to all people. For service men and women and their families, the reliance on power and cohesion is strong. VETART uses Art, Artmaking and teaching Art as a bridge to wellness for service members and their families to maintain hope and comfort through power, cohesion and engagement as they deal with their conditions. Art making in a community setting is foundational for positive wellness outcomes. At VETART we are not data driven, we are data informed. All VETART classes are taught by practicing Artists many with MFA’s who approach our students through a culturally competent lens. VETART classes intend to maximize resources and capabilities, making the VETART School of Ceramics and Glass a center of restoration, healing and care. WE believe that creativity is an inherent human right providing the mission critical idea that through Art people can go beyond one’s self. As a service organization we seek to always improve our processes, classes, improving to be more inclusive and responsive willing to learn and become better, better providers, better Artists, better community members.
