Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, THE SIMI VALLEY MUSIC BOOSTERS will support the SVHS Music Director in providing a collaborative learning project in which student groups solve problems related to strengthening the curricular and social aspects of their ensemble, as it relates to culture and race. CAC funds will provide for attendance of a multicultural event; purchase of sheet music by underrepresented composers; and visits by underrepresented composers, teachers, and musicians.
Organization Summary
Our programs and services include: support Simi Valley High School Music Department programs, purchase and repair musical instruments and equipment, support the SVHS Music Department’s attendance at music festivals and competitions, support fundraising activities to fund the music program, purchase and maintain band uniforms and apparel for students to use at performances and competitions, assist in providing transportation for music department equipment, staff, and students, support musical instruction and training, and the purchase of supplies. Supported programs include Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Winter Guard, Color Guard and the Marching Band.
