The Symphonic Jazz Orchestra (SJO) believes in the power of music to transform individuals, schools and communities. Created in 2001, the SJO, under the leadership of Music Director Mitch Glickman, is the only organization of its kind in the country, uniquely dedicated to blending the worlds of jazz and classical music.
The SJO is committed to:
* Inspire and educate the next generation through our Music in the Schools residencies, Community Outreach Programs and free student and family concerts.
* Commission and perform symphonic jazz compositions, a musical genre that blends the American language of jazz with European orchestral traditions.
