With support from the California Arts Council, Stanford Jazz Workshop will produce after-school music education programs for middle and high school students. Six tuition-based core ensembles will meet for 11 weeks per semester. Two pilot ensembles, offered free of charge, will explore new programmatic territory. Sequential instruction will focus on technique, improvisation, and interpretation. At least six public performances will celebrate student progress.
Year-Round Education Programs: six core ensembles (3 for middle school students, 3 for high school students) with annual enrollment of about 200, including 6 free annual performances attended by about 1,100.
Summer Education Programs: four weeks of immersive camps for about 600 middle school students, high school students, and adults; plus a two-week professional development residency for emerging educators/performers; includes 4 free performances attended by about 1,400.
Ticket Performances: 30 ticketed performances, total attendance of about 11,000.
Free Performances: 65 free performances annually for the general public, total attendance of about 7,000.
