With support from the California Arts Council, the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) will provide 40-50 California high school students with opportunities to gain knowledge and develop their creativity through Design Immersion Days, an intensive 4-week summer program that includes software instruction, visual arts coursework, field trips, and lectures. Approximately 30 of the students will be from low- or middle-income families, and receive full or partial scholarships.
SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) is widely regarded as one of the top architecture schools in the world. Located in downtown Los Angeles’ Arts District, SCI-Arc grants undergraduate, graduate, and post-professional degrees in architecture and emerging design technologies. SCI-Arc is distinguished by the vibrant atmosphere of its studios, where faculty members—all of whom are leading practitioners in the field—work with students to re-think, create, explore, and test the limits of the built environment. In addition to its unique educational environment, SCI-Arc has become one of Southern California’s leading cultural institutions, presenting a year-round series of gallery exhibitions and public lectures, with nearly 10,000 people benefiting from these programs each year, as well as quickly growing community engagement initiatives, which include free youth programs.
