With support from the California Arts Council, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTURE will provide need-based scholarships to low and middle income students to take part in Design Immersion Days, an intensive, immersive design education program for high school students. The four-week summer program gives youth opportunities to develop their creativity and build collaborative and critical thinking skills, while gaining knowledge of and increased appreciation for architecture and design.
SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) is widely regarded as one of the top architecture schools in the world. Located in downtown Los Angeles’ Arts District, SCI-Arc grants undergraduate, graduate, and post-professional degrees in architecture and emerging design technologies. SCI-Arc is distinguished by the vibrant atmosphere of its studios, where faculty members—all of whom are leading practitioners in the field—work with students to re-think, create, explore, and test the limits of the built environment. In addition to its unique educational environment, SCI-Arc has become one of Southern California’s leading cultural institutions, presenting a year-round series of gallery exhibitions and public lectures, with nearly 10,000 people benefiting from these programs each year, as well as quickly growing community engagement initiatives, which include free youth programs.
