partner with teaching artist Hilary Morefield and the Santa Paula Unified School District to create arts integration lessons and strategies to utilize artworks from the SP Art Museum’s annual Art About Agriculture to teach across the curriculum and increase student access to school-based arts education. The SPUSD will promote adoption of the lessons among district teachers, and and support field trips to the Museum as a capstone experience connecting students to a community arts organization.
Established in 2010, the Santa Paula Art Museum (SPAM) provides fine arts exhibition programming, including rotating, original exhibitions by local historic and contemporary artists, artist talks and demonstrations, and exhibit videos and publications; arts educational programming, including free exhibit tours and hands-on art lessons for local schools, dedicated exhibition space for student-created art, free monthly family days, and studio fine art classes for all ages; and outreach programming, including a nine-year partnership with Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley providing weekly art lessons at four local Boys & Girls Club sites.
