For more than 60 years the Riverside Art Museum (RAM) has served the inland southern California region as a leading center for visual arts, engaging 50,000 individuals and families annually. The museum’s mission is “to integrate art into the lives of people in a way that engages, inspires, and builds community by presenting high quality exhibitions and arts classes that instill a lifelong love of the arts.” RAM strives to be a distinguished, yet accessible institution that serves as a cultural, collaborative and educational focal point for our diverse, multiethnic community.
In June 2022 the museum opened it’s second site, The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum, located just over one block from the current musuem in Riverside’s downtown historic Mission Inn district. The new 60,000 sq foot center is the first in the nation dedicated to Chicana/o/x art. It is the repository of more than 500 notable works gifted by collector Cheech Marin, and others and will be a hub for research and study of Chicana/o/x art.
