Re-Present Media’s purpose is to advocate for personal storytelling from underrepresented communities in documentary film and nonfiction media. We believe that personal storytelling is an important strategy to create and promote holistic, nuanced portrayals of those who are often misrepresented in stereotypical ways in media. Personal stories include those about individuals, families, and communities, including but not limited to autobiographical works.
