With support from the California Arts Council Arts Integration Specialist Trena Noval will deliver professional development in arts integration strategies to teachers and staff through a series of professional development workshops at Peralta that align with Alameda County Office of Education Arts Centered Integrated Learning goals and OUSD VAPA goals.
The PPTG supports learning at Peralta by creating meaningful project-based Arts learning experiences that work to actively close the achievement gap by providing multiple pathways to success. All K-5 students and teachers work weekly with a resident Visual Artist and receive project-based support from a Media Artist. We also offer Vocal Music, African Drumming and Instrumental Music. We extend our reach into the community as our students work with a local Adult Day Care Center, sharing Arts learning with seniors with dementia. Our student art is displayed in hospitals, libraries, grocery stores, on transit boxes, and the US Embassy in Moscow. As an Arts Demonstration school we act as an incubator, sharing new ideas with visitors and multiplying our impact on the broader community. We are a cutting-edge leader in developing meaningful and rigorous Arts assessments, and in providing continuous integrated curricular support for teachers.
