Peninsula Cantare is a non-profit, community-based chorus made up of 90 singing-artist members with diverse backgrounds hailing from all over the San Francisco Bay Area. These artists come together each week to sing in community, all while working toward our vision of “creating a better world through music.” The singers range in age from 22 to 80 and come from all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. We have a number of singers on scholarship, and others who generously contribute, so that tuition may be waived for another person. Our members are professionals in education, tech, music, photography, psychology, healthcare, HR, and management.

We rehearse and perform mostly in Palo Alto, CA, but have singers coming from San Jose, the East Bay, the Peninsula, and even as far as Oakland and Livermore. Our audience also hails from across the Bay Area region, as they come to hear their neighbors, co-workers, faith community members, and family members perform. As people occasionally Peninsula Cantare as singers, we are thrilled to see them continue to support the organization out in the audience, and also as volunteers.

Peninsula Cantare performs three major concerts per year, ranging from the Renaissance to the twenty-first century and from a cappella to major works with orchestra. In addition to Bay Area concerts, members of the chorus have toured the country and the globe, most recently Ireland (2016), Carnegie Hall, New York City (2017), Grace Cathedral, San Francisco (2017), the Baltics (2018), Spain and Portugal (2023), Seattle (2024), and Italy and Slovenia (2025).
