Project Description

P.S. ARTS is dedicated to advancing equity and opportunity for children and youth by providing arts education in systemically under-resourced schools and communities. Since its founding in 1991, P.S. ARTS’ purpose has been to ensure comprehensive, sustainable arts education for every child in our community, and to continue to increase the positive impact that our program has on the academic, social, and emotional well-being of the children we serve. P.S. ARTS’ in- and after-school arts education programs are designed to be in alignment with the needs of the communities we serve, contributing to children’s wellbeing and elevating their future school and career prospects. P.S. ARTS was created in response to significant education budget cuts in the 1970s and 1980s that resulted in the near elimination of arts programs in California public schools. P.S. ARTS has grown from serving 285 students in one school to over 25,000 students in over 50 school communities throughout Southern and Central California.
