With support from the California Arts Council, the PF Bresee Foundation will provide 130 low-income youth of color ages 11-16 with after-school workshops in fine arts, including drawing, painting, dance, and theater, 4 days per week, for the duration of the 2020-21 school year. These workshops will facilitate increased socio-emotional wellness of low-income youth by allowing them to gain knowledge of artistic techniques and develop healthy outlets of creative expression.
Bresee serves 2,841 families and 1,106 youth annually by addressing the immediate and systemic barriers that low-income children and families face in achieving prosperous, healthy life outcomes. Bresee offers comprehensive services under three program divisions:
(1) Youth Services is our hallmark program, focused on youth success. We provide after-school and summer-break workshops in the Arts, STEAM, career readiness, internships, and sports recreation.
(2) Family Services provides families with vital services that help alleviate the impacts of severe poverty including: rent and utility assistance, grocery distribution, transportation vouchers, and more.
(3) Gang Prevention provides services for at-risk youth who may be vulnerable to gang involvement. Services include: individual and family case management, outdoor excursions, and creative and goal-setting projects.
