Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, Green Windows: Art of Interchange will compensate the Founding and Assistant Directors, allowing the organization to build much needed infrastructure within the organization. With CAC support, organizational staff will be compensated for previously unpaid administrative tasks and gain skills to be able to organize strategically around financial management, fundraising, and the development of more rigorous evaluation processes.

Organization Summary

Green Windows has three main areas of programs and services:
1) Creative writing workshops using the Amherst Writers and Artists method. There are community workshops with a sliding scale that bring in writers from all walks of life, workshops with at-risk seniors, workshops in the local juvenile hall, and more. All these workshops focus on knowing each other in an authentic and safe way through our creativity and knowing people different from ourselves, as well as supporting each other as writers.
2) An apprentice program to train people in the workshop method and Green Windows’ mission.
3) A consulting service to offer the founder’s unique facilitation and community building skills to other organizations and groups.
