Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, East Bay Performing Arts d.b.a. Oakland Symphony will transform the lives of young people through our Music for Excellence program. By providing In-School small group and one-on-one music instruction, and After-School orchestra programs, students will become stronger musicians while learning invaluable problem-solving and social skills required for collaboration/team building, and build self-confidence that will serve them throughout their lives.

Organization Summary

By presenting socially relevant, artistically excellent concert programming and providing community-responsive educational programs, Oakland Symphony strives to create deep, personal connections between people of all backgrounds, onstage and off. We are committed to breaking the actual and perceived barriers that prevent full participation in symphonic music, and to fostering a community where everyone can share the joy of live performance. This commitment to community guides Music Director Michael Morgan’s artistic vision and drives our extensive investment in music education and community engagement.
