DOGTOWN ARTISTS UNITED is an organization that re-creates and fosters a feeling of community through art shows and cultural events within areas where the community is lost because of gentrification.
DAU’s mission is to provide exposure to artists and reach the community at large, with free of charge one-night events in alternative urban locations.
This is accomplished by:
– producing and hosting art events in the public space that encourage and teach the 10 Burning Man principles, as well as diversity and acceptance of socio-
economical differences;
– providing infrastructure and support to local artists for the creation of new public art installations.
The 10 principles include:
radical inclusion, civic responsibility, participation, radical expression and leave no trace; the principles are not meant as a dogma but as an inspiration and guidelines in order to build a stronger creative community.
