The Dandan Performing Arts Center is a 501(c)3 California nonprofit corporation formed in August 2016. The formation is a response to the inadequate and inequitable access of music and arts education to the public school students of the unincorporated communities of Alameda County, most of whom are minority and low-income. Our mission is to inspire and empower youth to become creative and innovative contributors and leaders of our community.
We offer a safe environment where students have transformational experiences that fosters self-efficacy and a growth mindset. The program promotes equity, inclusion, and diversity; we serve over 300 families.
The nonprofit serves the unincorporated communities of Alameda County’s underrepresented youth ages 3 to 18 from minority, low to middle-income households with different cultural, religious, ethnic, racial, gender expression, and sexual orientations.
The board of directors and staff include a diverse and passionate group of professional musicians, educators, health professionals, and entrepreneurs committed to sharing their experiences and talents to mentor and provide opportunities to the underserved youth of Alameda County’s unincorporated communities. The organization strive to build a safe environment where students will have transformational experiences fostering self-efficacy, social-emotional learning competencies, and a growth mindset. We serve title one public school in the San Lorenzo school district and a K-12 public school in the New Haven school district.
