Community Youth Orchestra of Southern California is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides innovative music education programs that serve students of all ages and ability levels, engages musicians in meaningful community service through mentorship, and fosters a positive collaborative environment for music-making that strives to unite people from many diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Founded in 1990 by Robert Lau and directed for the past fifteen seasons by Gene Wie, the orchestra has been a contributing member to the cultural life of the City of Irvine for three decades. Engaging in artistic partnerships with organizations like the Irvine Barclay Theatre, Master Chorale of Saddleback Valley, Orange County Children’s Theater, The Arts at St. Margaret’s, Orange County Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center (OCCTAC), the Irvine Chinese School, and South Coast Chinese Cultural Association, we are thrilled to celebrate our 30th anniversary in the 2020-2021 season.
