With support from the California Arts Council, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco will partner with LGBTQ+ leading organizations such as SF Pride and Our Family Coalition to engage 130 underserved youth ages 6-18 through afterschool weekly sessions at 6 Clubhouses focused on the use of music, spoken word, visual arts, dance, media arts, and theater to express youth voice around the theme of Identity & Pride. Projects will be exhibited or performed at a culminating event in June 2021.
Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco provides high-quality programs and support services for youth ages 6-18 with the goal of enabling Club members to leave us at 18 ready for life. We focus on four essential program areas known as our “Formula for Impact”. These four areas include Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Community Engagement, and Job Readiness with Earning potential. Woven through all four areas is our Citywide Creative Arts Program (CCAP). CCAP helps youth unleash their creativity, find their voice and discover their power for change. Through our connection to the vibrant San Francisco arts community, youth have access to new resources and opportunities that they might not find anywhere else, enhancing their skills, confidence, leadership, and professional network. Some of our youth go on to become practicing artists, while others pursue different career paths, bringing highly valuable critical thinking and creative problem solving skills with them.
