With support from the California Arts Council, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles (BGCMLA) will be able to enhance our Arts Programming at two of our five Club site locations (Bell Gardens and Watts/Willowbrook), allowing BGCMLA to take even more kids on high-quality and impactful field trips and off-site excursions to LA’s premiere cultural institutions, exhibits and performances.
BGCMLA’s current programs include our After-School Program, which serves hundreds of children and youth ages 6 to 18 at seven sites: Challengers, Bell Gardens, Watts/Willowbrook, and Venice Clubhouses and Venice High and Mark Twain Middle Schools. BGCMLA provides opportunities for youth not otherwise available in arts, music, sports, and STEM designed to empower youth as our future leaders, build social and interpersonal skills, and provide opportunities for career exploration and educational enhancement.
Our seven-week, full-day Summer Program serves 400 to 600 members ages 6 to 18 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mondays – Fridays at all four Clubs and offers the same type of high-quality program as the After-School Program.
BGCMLA’s After-School and Summer Enrichment Programs focus on College and Career Preparation, Reading and Math Acceleration, Health and Fitness, Music & Arts, Leadership & Service, and Social Emotional Learning & Mental Wellness. In addition to pre-established program offerings, each club creates and innovates programs based on youth interests and need.
