With support from the California Arts Council, Blue Mountain Coalition for Youth and Families will create an after school arts program that engages children in professionally-taught painting, photography, poetry, storytelling and music workshops, using the arts as a catalyst for intergenerational learning and community building.
Throughout our history and growth, Blue Mountain Coalition for Youth and Families has developed programs according to the dynamic interests of the population engaged at our center. Our primary goal is to offer a safe and inclusive community space where everyone is welcomed and valued. BMCYF owns and operates a large community center, a full FM frequency radio station and a large community garden. Art & music have been at the heart of our programs since the early 2000s, and our Main Street Center is colorful with the years of artwork created there, including several collaborative murals, mandalas, masks and walls full of original works. Our 3000 square foot center has a fully-stocked art area, a piano, and instruments for children.
BMCYF provides after school activities for chilrden and youth, special guest art workshops; a monthly Open Mic Night; weekly playgroup for ages 0-5; twice weekly free community dinners; yoga and Zumba and Tai Chi classes; senior events; and community space for special gatherings.
