The Alameda County Arts Commission is a division of the Alameda County Government. The Arts Commission was established in 1965. Since 2000, the Arts Commission has four full-time County staff members.
All of the Alameda County Arts Commission’s services are based on the belief that the arts and creativity are an essential part of every successful and thriving community. The Arts Commission supports all art forms such as music, drama, dance, theater, visual, literary, traditional, new media, etc. The Arts Commission is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the County by:
• Advocating and building public will for the arts and creativity by serving as a link between individuals, organizations, businesses and government;
• Nurturing a thriving and diverse artistic and cultural environment throughout the Alameda County region;
• Promoting economic opportunities for the county’s artists and arts organizations through programs such as arts advocacy, grants, public art, arts learning and community engagement;
• Encouraging equitable and inclusive public access and participation in the arts.
