Founded in 1980, the Abhinaya Dance Company perpetuates the performance of classical South Indian dance across generations, maintains Indian Americans’ connection to their cultural heritage and builds community among Silicon Valley’s largely immigrant Indian American residents.

Abhinaya’s instructional dance program passes down the skills required to perpetuate the performance of Indian dance in Silicon Valley and promotes the artistic development of the community’s most promising emerging dancers and choreographers. Abhinaya’s professional dance company stages the Artistic Director’s original work, expands the expressive range of Bharatanatyam (a classical Indian dance form) and fosters its stylistic evolution in the United States.
