Position: Studio Coordinator
Full-time, In-Person/On-site, Benefited, Non-exempt/Hourly
Schedule: 30 to 34 Hours Weekly
Tuesday – Thursday: 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM,
Friday – Saturday: 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Evening hours are fixed and required
Pay Rate: $22/hr, Post 6-Month Probation $23 – $24/hr
Position Summary
The Studio Art Coordinator manages programs in RAC’s Studios, including operations, resources, and infrastructure. Expertise in one or more mediums (e.g., textiles, glass, printmaking, or metalsmithing) is required, along with collaboration skills to enhance the Studios and serve the community sustainably. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: Welcoming and supporting students and teachers arriving for classes, managing studio tasks (projects, inventory, maintenance, PPE), overseeing open studio sessions, after-hours registrations, clay sales, and locker sales.
Core Responsibilities
Studio Facility Operations:
- Serve as the primary evening contact for operations, services, and safety.
- Set-up/prepare studios for programs including AV equipment, table setup, and seating) including any reasonable accommodations or ADA requests.
- Manage studio safety policies, equipment tracking, and repairs.
- Develop resources for studio best practices and safety protocols.
Studio Art Programs Administration:
- Collaborate to hire teaching artists and community partners aligned with RAC’s mission.
- Communicate with staff and volunteers, providing updates and enrollment rosters.
- Coordinate approved purchases for class and workshop materials.
- Oversee program scheduling, planning, and evaluations.
- Maintain studio calendars and reservations.
Public Programs & Events:
- Support planning and implementation of RAC public programs, exhibitions, and annual events.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma required; Bachelor’s in Studio Art or related field preferred.
- Two years of relevant work experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Experience managing complex studio spaces and coordinating projects or events in public, educational, or community settings.
- Proficiency in teaching, leading, or presenting workshops and classes.
- Familiarity with digital platforms for project management, sales, and registration.
Skills & Abilities
Technical:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Zoom.
- Knowledge of A/V equipment and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Spanish or Mandarin proficiency preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and independent work skills.
- Collaborative approach to teamwork and conflict resolution.
- Valid California driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly sit or stand for extended periods, communicate, and use equipment.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Moderate office noise; higher levels in studios or community spaces, manageable with PPE.
- Must be comfortable working in varied environments (office spaces, public facing front desk spaces and active studio spaces)
