The Marketing & Community Development Manager will conduct the marketing and advertising activities of the theatre, including an annual marketing plan and budget, and all the promotion and engagement strategies. They will focus on developing new audiences while also deepening relationships and communication with current audiences. The Marketing Director should have creative energy, an entrepreneurial spirit, and be committed to sharing the story of Celebration Arts to a broad and growing constituency.
HISTORY & MISSION: Celebration Arts (CA), founded in 1986 by James Wheatley, provides training and performing opportunities in acting, dance, and music, through a theater season, dance company, Celebration Chorale, Storytelling Festival, and Kid’s Time programs (http://celebrationarts.net/about.html). These arts opportunities are provided to community residents, both adults and children, primarily aimed at African Americans. As African Americans do not often have sincere open access to arts training in the Sacramento area from mainstream theater companies, CA for over three decades has filled that gap in Sacramento County.
Title: Marketing & Community Development Director Status: Part-Time (20 hrs. weekly)
Compensation: Up to $38,000 annually
Report to: Artistic Director and Executive Director
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Media and marketing budget planning (print, online, radio, television etc.).
Establishing & Coordination of the season subscription campaign.
Development and coordination of promotional events.
Community marketing efforts including outreach to new audiences and grassroots marketing.
Social media outreach, marketing strategy and management.
Sales strategy including promotional offers, value-added experiences, and special events.
Creation and execution of all eblasts, newsletters and mailings related to programming.
Working with outside consultants for graphic design & branding for the creation of promotional materials, including print advertising, direct mail pieces, e-blasts.
Development and maintenance of relationships with outside media partners and sponsors.
Working with the Artistic Director on building all events for online ticket sales.
Ad sales for playbills.
Patron and community partner list management and development.
Servicing press releases and coordination of press activities.
Monitoring tickets sales and creating sales reports.
Working with the Development Director to build public interest in all theatre programs, as well as strengthen and promote the brand locally and regionally.
Developing marketing strategies targeting community organizations and specific individuals and corporations.
Developing marketing strategies for the Big Day of Giving and the ongoing GoFundMe campaigns.
Assist in the personal cultivation and stewardship of relationships with current and prospective donors and community leaders, in keeping with Celebration Arts mission andpurpose. (e.g., VIP Reception for season preview)
Work with the Executive Director and Artistic Director to plan and implement promotional events for season, group, and singular ticket sales campaigns.

PREREQUISITES OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Good writing and oral communication skills
Proven track record showing an ability to generate and track sales revenue
A strong understanding and respect regarding the Mission of CA
Commitment to increasing the visibility of an arts organization dedicated to the African American and diaspora experience
Ability to articulate the rationale for an organization like CA in present-day America
