The Center is a non-profit organization presenting a rich and diverse array of artistic and cultural offerings. Through arts in education, quality programming, affordable rental facilities, and low-cost and free performances, the Center is able to enrich the lives of the community it serves. With a mission of bringing people together to discover, create and celebrate both the visual and performing arts, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido is the cultural center of North San Diego County. 

About the Role: 

The Marketing Manager supports the Marketing Department by increasing public awareness, revenue and attendance of California Center for the Arts, Escondido events and institutional programs through the implementation of effective marketing, advertising and promotional activity in coordination with internal resources, key community partners and vendors. The Marketing Manager conceptualizes, plans and executes marketing campaigns including paid media, social media, promotions and grassroots campaigns for assigned events and institutional initiatives.

Position Status: Full-time (40 hours per week)  

Annual Salary: $58,240 – $60,000 salary range based on experience and qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities:
Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Develop and execute marketing plans, including but not limited to digital advertising, social media, radio, TV, print and outdoor advertising opportunities. 
Negotiate editorial coverage in tandem with media buys.
Critically analyze event ticket sales, its impact on consumer demand and suggest pricing and special promotions for subscriptions, single tickets and special promotional packages, including implementation of dynamic pricing campaigns.
Formulate, monitor and report key sales performance metrics and progress.
Collaborate with media and community partners for all identified CCAE endeavors to promote a positive image of CCAE and maximize exposure.
Communicate with third-party agencies and artist representatives to secure, localize, and approve advertising assets for assigned shows.
Collaborate with multiple departments to understand, contribute and ensure their marketing initiatives are being executed as planned.
Prepare marketing expenses and documentation for settlement procedures.
Contribute to invoice retrieval, coding and processing for the marketing department.
Contribute to organization and execution of institutional digital and print publications creation.
Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
 

Other duties as may be deemed necessary by the direct supervisor. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge of marketing disciplines, including digital, broadcast and print advertising.
Understand traditional and digital media buying relationships and tools.
Skilled at relationship building and working with internal and external partners.
Strong project management and organization skills.
Critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving.
Possess a strong customer service philosophy.
Strong skills in proofreading and editing. Must be detail-oriented.
Ability to maintain multiple priorities, projects and adhere to stringent deadlines.
Capacity to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment.
High ethical and professional standards.
Proficient in MS Office and related MS web-based tools. Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat) a plus but not required.
Able to understand CRM concepts and database management to target audience(s).
Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in English.
Able to maintain a physical presence at designated work locations, maintaining regular attendance, punctuality and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as events required.
 

Education and Experience:

BA/BS: Marketing, PR, Communications, Business, Arts Administration or any equivalent combination of   training and experience.
Two (2) years of hands-on entertainment marketing experience, preferably in non-profit arts.
Proven success in achieving ticket sales goals and revenue contribution.
 

Physical demands:

Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 30 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.

Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  The workspace is in an office environment. Noise levels vary, but can be moderate to high during programming and events.  While performing this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time with respect to both indoor and outdoor events. Temperature levels may include hot, cold, and mild. The noise level in the work environment may be low, moderate, and at times may be high.
