DESCRIPTION

400 hours, $16.04/hour

Grand Vision, an arts presenting organization located in San Pedro’s historic downtown Arts District, is looking for a Social Media Intern. This is a 15-20 hour a week position from June – December 2022 to update and implement our social media marketing plan for Grand Vision’s concerts and events in 2022-23. The Intern will produce short, engaging posts for Facebook, Instagram and other online platforms. The intern will apply marketing strategy and research skills, improve marketing vocabulary, initiate creative advertising and collaborate with staff to expand marketing methods. Secondary projects include event and office support.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have interests and/or experience in marketing and social media and music and event promotion. Fluency with standard social media platforms and basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office suite and Google Drive) and a high level of oral and written communication skills are mandatory. Experience with graphic design programs such as Canva or Photoshop and with video editing software such as iMovie or Final Cut Pro are preferred. The best candidate will be able to balance multiple projects and be a resourceful and innovative thinker. Must be able to ask questions and work independently.

 

ELIGIBILITY

2022 Arts Internship positions will be open to currently enrolled undergraduate (2 or 4-year) and community college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Recent graduates may apply as long as they have completed their degree between May 1 – December 1, 2022. The Department of Arts and Culture encourages eligible students from all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as disabled students, to apply. Eligible students may participate in the program once.

Note:

·         Students who have already earned a BA, BS, or a higher degree are not eligible for the Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program.

·         Students who have previously participated in the program are not eligible to participate a second time.

·         Students who are invited to participate in the program will be asked to provide verification of eligibility via college transcripts, driver’s license, and other documents to show enrollment status and/or LA County residence.

 

BACKGROUND

Grand Vision Foundation was formed to save the historic Warner Grand Theatre and create an arts hub in the LA Harbor Area. Today, our main projects are: continued preservation and promotional support for the Warner Grand; an annual live music and event series at the Grand Annex, a 150-seat listening room theater in the heart of San Pedro’s Arts District and Meet the Music, an 18-month music curriculum for Harbor Area elementary school students.
