FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt


Summary:

Working under the direction of the Director/CEO, reporting to the Communications Director, and working collaboratively across the communications department including the Managing Editor, Art Director, and Graphic Designer, the Social Media Specialist will research and test new creative approaches to inspire, educate, and drive audiences to action and champion new creative directions that highlight the SCI-Arc brand values and mission across SCI-Arc’s social media platforms. To be successful in this role, the individual will need to be curious, imaginative, and excited at the prospect of working in a highly creative and innovative environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Create overall outreach strategy for social media accounts: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Pinterest, TikTok, WeChat, Weibo, Youku

·        Compose social media and web campaigns to promote admissions deadlines, academic programs and other school updates

·        Update the school’s main website using content management system; assess content needs with department heads and academic program coordinators and serve as main web editor and publisher

·        Collect image and video content and maintain database for Communications department content distribution

·        Create, maintain and optimize campaigns in Google AdWords and paid social platforms

·        Implement editorial calendar for social media platforms

·        Collaborate with Art Director to ensure consistent brand identity across all social media accounts and main website

·        Strategize and oversee the planning and production of compelling video, digital and multimedia assets for social media platforms within prescribed deadlines and met within Institute brand guidelines

·        Create bi-annual social media strategy presentations and pitches to the Communications Director, Institute Director and Program Chairs

·        Analyze traffic across all social media accounts and report campaign metrics within prescribed deadlines

·        Maintain ADA compliance across all social platforms

·        Consistently ensure that the Institute’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies are reflected in all social media content and strategy

·        Engage with the social media community and respond to comments, requests, and customer queries in a timely manner

·        Identify and engage with influencers to increase outreach and brand awareness

·        Cover school events for social media including but not limited to public programs, thesis weekends, graduation, annual gala, and student-led events

·        Identify and manage contractors or agencies to produce social content as needed

·        Supervise student-worker content creators

·        Ensure goals are being met within budget

·        Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field

·        Minimum 3 years of experience in communication & marketing with emphasis on social media

·        Demonstrated competence in all areas of social content production and coordination

·        Strong, demonstrated knowledge of storytelling techniques and narrative design and experience creating and providing editorial and visual input on social content, including marketing and social media products

·        Familiarity with web content management systems with work experience as a web editor a plus

·        Experience in digital delivery and user engagement on multiple social platforms, including managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

·        Demonstrated understanding of producing clear, credible, relevant and impactful content

·        Able to work under tight deadlines with a variety of constituents to reach well-defined goals

·        Ability to initiate activities independently and organize, prioritize and complete work in a timely manner amidst competing deadlines and requests

·        Strong, demonstrated knowledge of analytics tools and ability to successfully utilize them to measure user engagement on multiple platforms, set benchmarks and meet goals

·        Thorough understanding of social media trends and strategies with a proven track record of increasing social media presence

·        Ability to resolve problems in an effective, diplomatic manner

·        Skilled in interacting with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds

·        Ability to work collaboratively with fellow employees to achieve department goals and objectives

·        Values working collaboratively in a small tight-knit team of creative professionals

·        Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with people at all levels of the Institute, including but not limited to students, faculty, staff, invited guests, vendors, consultants, donors, etc.

·        Knowledge of architecture and design a plus

·        Photography experience a plus

·        Experience with Premiere (or similar editing programs) a plus

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Ability to work certain evenings
