With support from the California Arts Council, FLIGHTS OF FANTASY MEDIA COMPANY will provide From the Page to the Stage at 4 Head Start sites giving preschool children the opportunity to experience literature through the art of theatre. Over twelve weeks, sixteen classes will participate in weekly workshops that use theatre techniques and activities to demonstrate concepts and emotions allowing children to work collaboratively and make connections between stories and events in their own lives.
Since 1995, Flights of Fantasy Story Theatre has provided theatre and arts education programming to children, parents and teachers throughout the Los Angeles and southern California community.
Core Programs Include:
1. Story Theatre Performances – Libraries, Festivals, Community Events. 1995 – present. To share and introduce theatre to diverse communities.
2. Sharing the Story – Collaborative Discovery – for elementary schools. 1996 – present. Assemblies, student workshops, Parent Workshop, Professional Development.
3. From the Page to the Stage – creative dramatics/storytelling for preschools. 2015 – present. Assemblies, student workshops, Parent Workshop, Professional Development.
4. The Early Literacy Readiness Project – storytimes at preschools. 2005 – present. Weekly storytimes, Parents Take the Lead Workshops, Story Theatre Performances.
5. ‘The Library Ladies’ – outreach to preschools in Pasadena for the Pasadena Public Library. 2009 – present. Monthly storytimes.
