San Diego International Airport’s Arts Program invites performing arts groups, collectives, organizations, companies, and higher education performing arts departments to submit proposals for our 2025-2026 residencies. The Performing Arts Residency Program supports the development and public performance of new work. It offers artists the space to create and rehearse new material while providing SAN patrons a unique opportunity for interaction through the performing arts. This process-oriented residency is open to contemporary performing artists in all disciplines and cross-disciplinary media including digital performance and projection. Examples of programming may include local, regional and international music, modern, traditional or ethnic dance, as well theatrical productions inspired by or developed in response to the airport setting.
One residency is expected to begin in the Fall/Winter of 2025, and one in Spring 2026. The residences selected from this call will program all airport terminals, including New Terminal 1, during its inaugural year. This exciting milestone offers the first opportunity to develop projects that explore and respond to travelers’ experiences in this state-of-the-art transportation facility.
Two contracts in the amount of $20,000 will be awarded for a 6-month residency period.
