The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Los Angeles, is seeking an experienced Director of Marketing to play a pivotal role in shaping the museum’s image and enhancing its visibility to the public. The Director of Marketing will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic marketing and communication plans that promote the museum, its collections, and its programs to a variety of audiences.

Founded in 1979, MOCA is the defining museum of contemporary art. In a relatively short period of time, MOCA has achieved astonishing growth; a world-class collection of nearly 8,000 objects, international in scope with deep holdings in Los Angeles art; hallmark education programs that are widely emulated; award-winning publications that present original scholarship; groundbreaking monographic, touring, and thematic exhibitions of international repute that survey the art of our time; and cutting-edge engagement with modes of new media production. MOCA is a not-for-profit institution that relies on a variety of funding sources for its activities.
About the Role:
As the Director of Marketing, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of MOCA’s marketing strategies. They will play a pivotal role in advertising, multi-channel marketing, paid social media advertising, and developing marketing plans for our exciting range of exhibitions. In addition, the Director of Marketing will be adept at enhancing audience engagement and ensuring a consistent and compelling brand message.
The Director of Marketing will report directly to the museum’s Chief Communications Officer (CCO) and manage a team of direct reports.

While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following: sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required. Heavy usage of computers and phones required.
