About
Located in San Francisco’s historic Fillmore/Western Addition neighborhood, the African American Art & Culture Complex (AAACC) presents, offers, and celebrates Black art, artists, and culture through educational, innovative, enriching, and empowering programs and services that inspire and uplift the community. Within its 34,000-square-foot facility, the center provides a wide variety of art and cultural programming for youth, adults, and families, including visual, digital, and performance. The center features two indoor galleries, an outdoor gallery showcasing murals, and a 206-seat theater for live shows, film screenings, and seminars. Recognized as one of the premier Black arts and cultural institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area, AAACC houses some of the most celebrated African American arts and culture organizations in the region.
Job Summary
The African American Art & Culture Complex (AAACC), located in Fillmore, San Francisco, seeks a highly skilled and motivated Managing Director. We are looking for an exceptional individual with a strong background in people management, organizational development, and fundraising, with experience in the arts.
As the Managing Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading and inspiring both finance and creative teams. Your expertise in navigating city funding and compliance requirements will be critical in securing necessary resources. Adept at administration and operations, you will effectively balance the needs of these diverse teams, promoting collaboration and success.
In this role, you will manage the Program & Services Manager, Marketing & Communications Manager, Facility and Operations Manager, Financial Manager, Grants Manager, Grant Writers, and all contractors, including artists in programs, and partner with consultants and service providers engaged in strategic planning, financial planning—including tax preparation and filing, fundraising, public relations, social media, and marketing. You will provide strategic support and leadership, working alongside the Co-Executive Directors to supervise all administration and programming functions. This includes managing day-to-day operations, developing program strategies, building staff capacity, and ensuring the organization’s financial sustainability.
Reporting directly to the Co-Executive Directors, this position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the community.
